Country’s Nuclear Establishment to give away nuclear waste as commemorative gifts

With the increasing number of the nuclear plants, urbanisation (leading to land use conflict) and growing population the country’s nuclear establishment is finding it difficult to find place for the nuclear waste generated. Coupled with this is fact that the current temporary waste storage areas based in two secret locations will soon be full.

To deal with this crisis the country’s nuclear establishment has come with a well thought of solution. To commemorate the establishment of the nuclear authority, the country’s first nuclear facility, commercialisation of various nuclear plants, first peaceful weapons test and the second nuclear test the nuclear establishment is going to create small mementos either made of nuclear waste or containing nuclear waste to distribute to all people. These will be sent free of all charges to everyone. These will be distributed though the year to commemorate the different days mentioned.

This idea was suggested at a recently held secret meeting to deliberate on the nuclear waste crisis. If one may recall fundamentalist groups had earlier wanted to distribute the sand from the area where the second nuclear test was conducted to all citizens. Taking this a step further the nuclear establishment finds that this is not only a good way to deal with nuclear waste but also will help in radiating the country’s nuclear achievements to every citizen for generations to come.

A contest for designing these mementoes will also be soon announced. The final date for submission of designs is 1st April 2010. Participants requiring samples of nuclear waste should apply directly to the closest Nuclear Power Plant.
